Candidates for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) direct entry exam will now be required to take verbal and cognitive reasoning tests.
In a virtual conference with the commissioners of education from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, the Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this information.
Oloyede explained that the test would assess candidates’ academic potential or career suitability, as well as their mental or physical capacity.
“It is an intelligent test that will measure the candidate’s current cognitive skills and will not be the usual subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Government or Physics.”
The registrar stated that the test would cover verbal, abstract, mechanical, and numerical reasoning, data checking, and work sampling.
He also stated that all DE candidates were required to present their matriculation number from their previous school, their subject of qualification, the institution they attended, their year of graduation, and, if required, an admission letter, at the time of registration.
