UTME: JAMB Reports 90% of Mock Exam Space Already Taken

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 90 percent of the available slots for the Optional Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) nationwide have already been occupied.

The board stated that only a limited number of spaces remain in certain states.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB confirmed that the remaining states with available slots include Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe.

The board clarified that this notice serves as a caution to candidates, advising them against hastily selecting examination towns and later blaming the board for assigning them to locations that are distant from their homes, towns, or states.

It stressed that JAMB does not assign examination towns to candidates sitting for the UTME or the Optional Mock examination.

“JAMB has observed unusual preferences among candidates regarding their choice of examination towns, likely in an effort to participate in the optional mock examination.”

“…While candidates have the right to choose their preferred examination town, JAMB urges them to consider the implications of their choices.”

“Some candidates may select towns that are quite distant, potentially outside their home state. The board should not be held responsible for such decisions.”
