UTME: Police disclose identities of 4 men arrested for exam malpractice in Lagos

On Thursday, police officials in Lagos brought four individuals before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court over accusations of impersonation and cheating during the recent JAMB examination.
Those charged include Damilola Rufai, aged 27; Tella Oriyomi, aged 19; Temidayo Williams, aged 20; and Ibrahim Akindele, aged 23.
All four defendants, who reside in Lagos, faced charges of impersonation, exam malpractice, and criminal conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, informed the court that the alleged offences occurred on April 26 at several exam centres throughout Lagos State.
The prosecutor stated that the first defendant was accused of entering an exam centre while pretending to be another person.
He further alleged that the remaining three defendants engaged in exam malpractice and were each apprehended within separate exam halls.
Despite the allegations, the defendants entered a plea of not guilty.
Presiding over the matter, Chief Magistrate Mrs. O. O. Kushanu granted each defendant bail in the amount of N500,000, requiring two sureties of equal value.
Kushanu scheduled the case for further hearing on June 16.
