WAEC denies the online training class for the 2024 WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has distanced itself from a website that invites unsuspecting prospective students to register online for the council’s scheduled sessions in 2024 in anticipation of the school-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The organisation claimed not to be aware of the online course and to have never given instructions to anyone or any organisation to carry out an assignment on its behalf.

The claim was denied by Mr. Amos Dangut, the head of WAEC Nigeria’s National Office, in a statement released on Wednesday by Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, the council’s spokesperson. He claims that a website claiming to provide online instruction for potential WASSCE candidates on its behalf has caught the notice of WAEC.

“And want to state clearly that WAEC has no affiliation nor connection with such website calling for registration for online lesson.

“So, we strongly urge stakeholders and general public to beware of the website, as it may potentially be a spam or phishing platform aimed at capturing personal information for fraudulent and illegitimate purposes.

“WAEC has only one official e-learning portal for candidates seeking instructions and recommendations on approaching and tackling examination questions.

“Therefore, we encourage our prospective candidates to always visit our e-learning portal at https://www.waeconline.org.ng/e-Learning for reliable information.

“In addition, candidates can also log on to https://waeckonnect.com, a web-based electronic information sharing and dissemination system.”

According to Dangut, WAECKonnect is a platform that offers rooms for candidates to interact with one another and receive direct information and notifications from the council, as well as facilitating effective communication between the Council and candidates prior to, during, and following the conduct of examinations.

In terms of how its tests are administered and certificates are issued, he continued, WAEC would always be dedicated to providing excellence and service to Nigerian children.
