Yobe school reopens after 12 years of closure due to insurgency
The Yobe State government has reopened Government Senior Day Secondary School in Bara, located in Gulani Local Government, after a 12-year closure due to insurgent activities.
Since 2012, this school, along with Government Secondary Schools Goniri and Babbangida, had been operating from a temporary location at Government Secondary School in Damaturu.
The school’s new principal, Mr. Sulaiman Tamali, shared the news in Bara on Friday during a visit to the Chairman of the Gulani Local Government Council, Dayyabu Njibulwa. Mr. Tamali explained that his visit aimed to formally introduce himself to the chairman and to establish a collaborative relationship with the council.
“With this partnership, together we will raise the standard of teaching and learning at the school,” said Mr. Tamali.
Chairman Njibulwa remarked that the reopening of the school reflects a notable improvement in security across the region and the state as a whole. He assured the principal of his support to help fulfill the school’s mission and objectives.
The chairman also praised the state government and security agencies for their roles in achieving the peace currently present in the area.
