Zulum Names Chair, CMD for Borno University Teaching Hospital
Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has announced the appointment of the Chairman of the Board of Management, Chief Medical Director (CMD), and other key administrative officers for the Borno University Teaching Hospital.
The appointments were disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Maiduguri by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya.
According to the statement, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo, the current Chief Medical Director of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), will serve as the chairman of the hospital’s management board. Professor Ibrahim Kida has been named as the newly appointed CMD.
Professor Kida is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and has served as a senior registrar and registrar of the same institution. His expertise lies in infectious diseases and epidemiology, focusing on HIV/AIDS management.
Additionally, he is a member of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), the West African College of Physicians, and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
Furthermore, Governor Zulum has appointed Professor Usman Tela as the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC).
Ali Mohammed has been appointed as the Director of Administration for the hospital and will also serve as Secretary to the Management Board. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from Schiller International University, Dunedin, Florida, USA, in 1998.
The management board will also include representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Medical College of Borno State University (BOSU), the Senate of Borno State University, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), and the Allied Health Professionals in Borno. Additional representatives will come from UMTH and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University.
Other board members include Abba Bashir Marte, Samson Dibal, and Dr Musa Aji, who will represent the public interest from Borno State’s three senatorial districts.
Governor Zulum congratulated all appointees and encouraged them to leverage their expertise in clinical practice and healthcare management to deliver quality services to the people of Borno State.
The Governor emphasised, “Our goal is to provide our people with the best possible healthcare while also training the next generation of medical professionals.”
The statement further clarified that all appointments are subject to approval by the Borno State House of Assembly.
