10 Abba Students Receive Scholarship from Akanchawa Education Foundation

10 students at Nigerian higher education institutions have received scholarships from the Akanchawa Education Foundation, which has made it clear that it is committed to raising the standard of education in Abba, Nwangele local government area, Imo.

Each of the awardees, which cut across the four communities in Abba Ama Ano, is to get N100,000 annually. Chief Chris Onwuzurike, a US-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, is the driving force behind the scholarship.In honour of his father, Sebastian Onwuzurike, Chief Onwuzurike established the Akanchawa Education Foundation, a division of the Chief Sebastian Onwuzurike Foundation.

Several Abba students have received tertiary scholarships from the Foundation, which is currently in its sixth year. Professor Frank Ojiako, the director of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri’s Institute of Erosion Studies, is the chairman of the foundation.

According to a statement from the Foundation’s Secretary, Mr. Jude Owuamanam, the pupils will receive the award in person on November 4, 2023, during a ceremony that will take place at the Oteke Hall of Fame in Ekitiafor Abba.Ekitiafor’s Lord Envoy, Chief Ugochukwu Nwoke, will preside over the event.

“A philanthropist per excellence, Akanchawa was the very first to start tertiary education scholarship in Abba Clan since 2018, in memory of his dear father, Chief Sebastian Onwuzurike. His passion for helping the youth to attain the very height of their educational zenith is highly commendable.We welcome and thank him immensely for his wonderful gestures to our children.”
