A total of 238 Imo State University (IMSU) students have been recommended for expulsion due to the display of falsified admission letters.
According to a news release issued by Ralph Njoku, the university’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, the impacted students fraudulently hacked into the IMSU and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, websites with the support of their parents and guardians.
Some of the candidates then created fake admission letters and pretended to be students at Imo State University in Owerri.
“The said candidates who are flaunting fake admission letters are not our students,” the notification states.
“It is important for parents to understand that these con artists’ actions have seriously threatened the futures of their children and wards.
“We know our students who are legally admitted into the university but names of those who are fraudulently parading fake admission letters have been published in some local tabloids for the public to take note of.
“The institution is still investigating how the two hundred and thirty-eight students were illegally admitted into Imo State University.”
