The Tyler Fray Foundation, in partnership with Ten Strings Music School, has introduced a transformative music scholarship aimed at empowering young Nigerian talents in the music industry.
This initiative seeks to provide support for aspiring musicians to pursue their dreams and establish successful careers in the field.
The foundation draws inspiration from the life of Oloruntoba Oluwadamilola Falode, widely known as Tyler Fray, a gifted music artiste and producer.
Tyler tragically lost his life on 15th February 2014 at the age of 19 after falling from the 17th floor of a high-rise building in Dubai, where he was studying to advance his career as a music professional.
The circumstances surrounding his fall from the balcony of his 17th-floor apartment, where he was present with two other individuals, remain unresolved to this day.
Tyler’s dedication to music and unwavering passion for his craft continue to inspire the foundation’s mission to nurture a new generation of Nigerian music creators.
He was the son of Aisha Falode, an esteemed sports broadcaster, former Chairperson of the Nigerian Women Football League, and Executive Committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). She also serves on the foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Other board members include Jadesola Falode, Mike Itemuagbor, Genny Adeosun, Bashorun Dele Momodu, and Ehi Braimah.
The scholarship is open to aspiring musicians who meet the following criteria:
- Must reside in Nigeria.
- Aged between 16 and 25 years.
- Demonstrates a genuine passion for a music career.
- Exhibits a clear financial need for the scholarship.
- Commits to completing the programme in full.
