The Postgraduate School, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for consideration for admission into the under-listed Diploma, Masters and Doctorate Degree programmes for the 2019/2020 session under Regular, Part Time, Centre for Continuing Education (Weekend), Institute of Women/Gender and Development Studies (IWoGDS), Institute of Erosion Studies (IES) and Public Procurement Research Centre (PPRC)

Any interested candidate should pay a non-refundable fee of eleven thousand, three hundred naira (N11,300.00) only at any of the Deposit Money Banks (DMB) through the Remita Gateway on the Postgraduate application platform and then complete the online application at http://www.futo.edu.ng 

FUTO Postgraduate Studies Application for 2019/2020 Session

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All candidates applying for any of the following postgraduate programmes must satisfy the basic matriculation requirements including O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics and any other related subjects as required by the Department.

1.1 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD)

Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department:

i) Higher National Diploma (HND) Lower Credit or above

ii) Bachelors Degree in the relevant discipline from FUTO or any other recognized University with at least a Third Class Honours.

iii) A good Bachelors Degree with at least Second Class Honours in other related disciplines.

1. 2 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD) in Gender Studies

Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Gender Studies programme must possess any of the following:

i) A good Bachelors Degree with at least Second Class Honours in other related disciplines.

ii) Higher National Diploma (HND) Lower Credit or above

iii)Bachelors Degree in the relevant discipline from FUTO or any other recognized University with at least a Third Class Honours O’ LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR GENDER STUDIES O’ level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in addition to any other three subjects as follows:

O’ LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR GENDER STUDIES

O’ level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in addition to any other three subjects as follows: i) Women and Gender Studies (Economics, Government or History, Commerce, Geography)

ii) Gender and Entrepreneurship (Economics, Government or History, Commerce, Geography)

iii) Global Health (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) iv) Gender and Agricultural Technology (Chemistry, Agricultural Science or Biology and Food Nutrition or Home Economics)

2.1 MASTERS: M.Sc, M.Eng and MPH

Candidates applying for the Master of Science (M.Sc), Master of Engineering (M.Eng), and Master of Public Health (MPH) programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department/Institute:

i) A Bachelors degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) qualification in the related area from FUTO or from any other recognized University.

ii) A Bachelors degree from a recognized University plus a PGD of not less than 3.00 CGPA on a 5-point scale and a 2.50 CGPA on a 4-point scale in the relevant area.


However, for M.Sc in Financial Management Technology and Management Technology candidates must possess O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics Economics and any two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Geography
 

2.2 M.Sc in Optometry

Candidates applying for the Master of Science (M.Sc) in Optometry programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry


i) A Doctor of Optometry (O.D) degree with a minimum of 2.50 CGPA on a 5-point scale or 2.50 CGPA on a 4-point scale in the related area from FUTO or from any other recognized University.


ii) Completion of one year internship programme and NYSC programme

2.3 M.Sc in Gender Studies

Candidates applying for the Master of Science (M.Sc) in Gender Studies programme
must possess any of the following:
i) Higher National Diploma (HND) Upper Credit or above plus PGD in Gender Studies
ii) Bachelors Degree in the relevant discipline from FUTO or any other recognized University with at least a Third Class Honours plus a PGD in Gender Studies.
iii) A good Bachelors Degree with at least Second Class Honours in other related
disciplines.

O’ LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR GENDER STUDIES
O’ level credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in addition to any other three subjects as follows:
i) Gender and Development Studies/Entrepreneurship (Economics, Government or History, Commerce, Geography)
ii) Gender and Science/Global Health (Chemistry, Biology, Physics)
iii) Gender and Technology (Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science)
iv) Gender and Agricultural Technology (Chemistry, Agricultural Science or
Biology and Food Nutrition or Home Economics)


3. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA)
Candidates applying for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department:
i) A good Honours Degree with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Management Technology from FUTO or from any other recognized University.
ii) Graduates with Bachelors degree from a recognized University with at least a third class qualification
iii) Higher National Diploma (HND) lower credit or above plus a Postgraduate Diploma in relevant field may apply for the MBA programme
iv) A Bachelors degree in other fields plus a PGD in a relevant field However, for MBA in Financial Management Technology and Management Technology, candidates must possess O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics Economics and any two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science, and Geography.

4. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D)
Candidates applying for the Ph.D programme must possess any of the following in addition to O’ Level Credit Passes in English and Mathematics and satisfying the basic matriculation requirements of the Department/Institute:
i) A Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 point scale or 3.00 on a 4.00 point scale or its equivalent in the relevant areas from FUTO or any recognized University
ii) Any other qualification as the University Senate may from time to time recognize/approve.

C. DURATION OF PROGRAMMES
i. Ph.D Programmes: A minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters for full-time, and minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters for part-time students.
ii. M.Sc, M.Eng, MPH and MBA Programmes: A minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters for full-time, and minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters for part-time students.
iii. PGD Programmes: A minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters for full-time, and minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters for part-time students.
iv. POSTGRADUATE (WEEKEND) Programmes:
a. PGD Programmes: A minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8)
semesters.
b. MBA Programmes: A minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters.

NOTE: Candidates with Bachelor or Master’s degree in Education (B.Ed and
M.Ed) need not apply

Step 4: Click on the link Apply here
Step 5: Enter your email address
Step 6: Click on Generate Invoice
Step 7: Enter your details and click on submit to generate payment invoice
Step 8: Print your invoice containing your RRR number (Remita Retrieval Reference)
and proceed to the bank for payment or make payment via ATM card.
Step 9: Return to Step 4 above
Step 10: Enter your email address again to complete PG Application form online
Note: Ensure that the referee’s email address supplied is valid as a referee form link
would be sent to your referees for completion online.
Step 11: Print out a copy of the Acknowledgement Slip when the form is completed.
Also an acknowledgement would be sent to the email address you provided
while filling the form. Therefore, make sure you provide a valid email
address.

All applicants must forward their transcript to reach the Deputy Registrar/Secretary, Postgraduate School, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, not later than Monday, November 4, 2019.
Please note that any application without academic transcript will not be considered for admission.
