Police detains man for raping schoolgirl in Anambra

A middle-aged man named Onuora has been arrested by officers from the Inland Town Police Division in Onitsha, Anambra State, for allegedly raping a schoolgirl.

Security personnel who had been tracking the suspect’s activities nabbed him at the Ado Girls Secondary School in Onitsha.

According to a source, the guy had formed a pattern of setting up ambushes around the school grounds to target his victims.

Prof. Charlse Soludo, the Gov of Anambra State, has ordered that the suspect be detained.

Prof. Ngozi Chumkwuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, said in a statement that the Governor explicitly requested that the suspect be remanded at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka while investigations into the alleged rape case proceed.

“The suspect is currently detained at the Inland Town Police Division in Onitsha,” Prof. Chukwuma-Udeh confirmed.

Gov Soludo condemned the alleged act, vowing to exhaust all legal means to ensure justice is served. He urged the people of Anambra to speak out against such despicable acts.

Recall that Anambra State Police Command had previously arrested and detained no fewer than 11 suspects in various cases of rape and defilement.
