As a way of declaring its stance against any form of sexual harassment and molestation of students, the Management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) has suspended a lecturer, Dr Rowland Uchechukwu Igwe of the Department of Sociology for allegedly impregnating a student.
This was announced by the institution’s vice chancellor, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele, on his personal Facebook page, on September 24.
According to reports, the lecturer allegedly sexually harassed and intimidated the said student, before impregnating her, and the undergraduate suffered health complications as a result of the pregnancy.
The lecturer has been placed on an indefinite suspension. Read the statement below;
