BSU gets new Vice Chancellor




Governor Samuel Ortom has confirmed Prof Tor Joe Iorapu as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Benue State University, Makurdi. The announcement was made known via a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Anthony Ijohor on Tuesday.

The statement reads, “His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom, who is the visitor to the Benue State University, Makurdi is in receipt of the Council Report submitted by the Pro-Chancellor and the Chairman of the University Governing Council in respect of the selection process of the next Vice-Chancellor at the Benue State University, Makurdi has transmitted the names of the three best candidates as required by the University Law to enable the Visitor complete the process of appointing a new Vice Chancellor for the Benue State University, Makurdi.

BSU gets new Vice Chancellor

They are;

1. Prof Iorapu Tor Joe
2. Prof Edward Omudu
3. Prof Tarhule V. Vitalis

“In line with His Excellency policy to recognize merit, the candidate who came first has been appointed.”

The current VC, Msugh Moses Kembe’s tenure ends next month. Prof. Iorapu floored 27 professors who vied for the position after an examination.

The Professor who hails from Aliade in Benue state began his tertiary education at the College of Education Katsina-Ala in Benue state where he was renowned for his high interest in theatre for development. He thereafter proceeded to the prestigious University of Jos for his tertiary education.
