TETFUND Spends N4.5 Billion on Educational Investments in Gombe State University




At Gombe State University, TETFUND commissions N4.5 billion in educational expenditures. The Gombe State University (GSU), Gombe, has officially opened its new educational buildings and equipment, including those constructed by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for a total of N4.5 billion.The university was added to the list of beneficiaries of TETFund’s interventions in 2006, according to Architect Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, who spoke during the commissioning event.

The university was founded in 2004.He continued by saying that the fund has already given the university about N15 billion between 2006 and 2023 for a variety of operations.He praised the university administration for using money wisely to build the necessary structures, which are noticeable architectural elements on the campus.According to TETFund ES,

According to the TETFund ES, “No doubt, projects undertaken with these funds have remarkably impacted the mandate of the university in facilitating teaching, learning, and research. “He said, “I, therefore, wish to commend the management of the university for assiduously monitoring and ensuring the successful delivery of the various intervention projects executed from inception, some of which we are assembled here to commission today. “The projects to be commissioned today are those of the special high-impact intervention, special, annual, and zonal interventions for which funds were allocated between 2014 and 2021, and successful completions between 2021 and 2023,” he continued.

The projects were successfully completed at a total cost of N4,591,813,389.70 and in accordance with the TETFund’s requirements.Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty, the university’s vice chancellor, thanked TETFUND for its numerous interventions in the school, saying they have aided in its development.

Inuwa Yahaya, the state governor, who oversaw the projects’ commissioning alongside Sa’idu Alkali, the minister of transportation, and other prominent members of the federal and state governments, praised TETFUND for providing funding for the construction of the institution’s structures and the school administration for their wise use of the funds.In order to grow the school and its programmes, he disclosed plans to build a second campus housing the university’s faculty of environmental sciences in the Dukku local government.

The structures consist of a 250-seat drama theatre, a university clinic, female hostels III and IV, and those at the faculties of pharmaceutical sciences, education, the arts, social and management sciences, and law.
