The Nigeria Govtech Public Service award went to the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, for being the nation’s most innovative federal university.
The recognition came after ATBU was named the top university in the nation in a competition for public universities sponsored by the Presidency’s Bureau for Public Service.
On October 13, 2023, in Abuja, the Director-General of the Bureau, Dasuki Arabi, gave the award to the Vice Chancellor, Professor M.A. Abdulazeez. As he presided over the honour Night and presentation supper at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, the Director-General praised ATBU for receiving the honour, calling it well deserved.

The honour would spur the university to increase its efforts in academics and other areas to uphold the standard of excellence, the vice chancellor stressed. The Director of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of ATBU, Zailani Bappa, released this statement.
