The plans for Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Osun State, to host the upcoming West Africa Universities Games (WAUG) have been concluded.
To ensure a smooth and successful sports festival, the institution has started renovating its sports facilities in advance of the event.
The statement states, “WAUG, scheduled to commence on Friday, December 15, 2023, will see universities from across the West African sub-region competing for medals in various sports disciplines, including tennis, table tennis, basketball, and athletics.”
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, has been appointed as the special guest of honour at the games’ opening and closing ceremonies. Friday, December 22, 2023 is the scheduled date of the grand finale.
