Group donates foodstuff, others to school of deaf in Plateau




JOS (Sundiata Scholar) – The Plateau school of the Deaf in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau has received food products and educational materials from the National Association of Seadogs, Dutse Deck, in collaboration with Atlantis Deck.

The Chairman of Plateau, Mr. Hilary Ezeadilieje, presented the items on Wednesday and stated that they were being given in commemoration of the “2024 International Day of Education.”

Ezeadilieje stated that the donation was intended to support universal access to quality education, which is one of the UN’s main priorities.

The chairman, who said that the 2024 international day of education with the theme “Learning for lasting Peace”, would also inculcate in the pupils and students the need to create a peaceful society via their actions and inactions, particularly as future leaders.

He called on the school management to judiciously make use of the items donated toward enhancing teaching and learning for the special pupils and students.

Receiving the items, Principal of the school, Mrs Nanbam Silas, thanked the association for the kind gesture.

Silas, who described the gesture as timely, assured the donors that the items donated would be put into good use.

She called on other spirited individuals and groups to emulate the kind gesture of the donors.

The Head Girl of the school, Joy Sunday, who was visibly elated, thanked the association for the donation.

Some of the items donated include, dozens of notebooks, packets of biros, pencils, and erasers.

Other items were cartons of chalks, bags of rice, maize, and beans, gallon of vegetable oil, among others.
