National Common Entrance Examination to be held on April 20 – NECO

The National Examination Council (NECO) says it is ready for the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which is scheduled for April 20, and advises candidates’ parents to be respectful throughout the exam.

Azeez Sani, NCEE’s interim spokesman, revealed this in an interview in Lagos on Tuesday.

Mr Sani stated that the NCEE, which is organised by NECO for final-year primary school students, will create opportunities for admission to JSS1 in Federal Unity Colleges across the country.

He continued, “The examination is on April 20, and we are doing everything we can to assure a favourable outcome. However, we require the full cooperation of parents.

“While parents bring their wards for the examination on that day, they must not overcrowd the centre but should as much as they can exhibit decorum.

“The candidates are children who need concentration, and we don’t want noise or any form of distraction during the examination. This is an appeal.”

The NECO official added that, in compliance with the federal government’s mandate, students taking the exam should be between the ages of 10 and 13 by September 2024. According to him, it has been clearly stated that students under the age of 10 are unqualified.

He went on to say, “we’re using this opportunity to tell parents to appeal to their conscience and stop rushing their children’s education because it will affect them later.”

He expressed confidence that school authorities and management had educated the students on what was expected of them while using the questions as a guide.
