Alexander Victor, a Nigerian development expert, researcher, and entrepreneur, has been selected lecturer of the year at Dublin City University in Ireland.
Victor beat nine others to become the university’s overall best lecturer.
The Edo-born lecturer got the prestigious honour on March 30th, 2024, to resounding applause from colleagues and supporters.
The 39-year-old holds two PhDs, one in Applied Mathematics from NSUK in Nigeria and the other in Financial Mathematics from PAUSTI in Kenya.
He also has three Master’s degrees: one in Applied Mathematics from the University of Abuja, Nigeria, another in Financial Mathematics from the same institution, and a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from WorldQuant University in the United States.
Victor has more than 12 years of professional experience and has held leadership positions in a variety of organisations.
His most recent position was as a project/research lead with Schemas Group, and he previously worked as a research fellow/econometrician for the DFS project supported by the BMGF and the Strivers project sponsored by the MasterCard Foundation at LBS – Pan Atlantic University in Nigeria.
Victor is currently conducting advanced research at Dublin City University, focusing on the augmentation of financial time series with deep generative adversarial networks.
Prior to this, he was a senior lecturer in the Department of Actuarial Science at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agricultural Technology, where he taught financial risk management and advanced financial mathematics.
