THE (Sundiata Post) – university is located in the twin towns of Achina and Onne in Aguata and Orumba North Local Government Areas respectively, in Anambra State.
The fibre optics cables were laid around the
entire school with 10 terminations, to serve users from the base station at Ekwulobia.
It will serve the institution’s radio station
when it becomes operational.
The school is equally deploying current Learning Management Systems (LMS) to enable distant-learning students to access lectures from any part of the world.
This indication was given on Tuesday by a Spokesperson of the university, Mr. Chuka
Nnabuife, in a statement made available to journalists in Awka, the Anambra state capital.
According to the statement, Nnabuife spoke
as the university prepares to matriculate its first set of students (200) on Friday, April 19, 2024, who were admitted on
October 3, 2023.
The school is owned by the two sister
Dioceses of Awka and Ekwulobia, under the
guidance of Bishop Paulinus Ezeokafor and
Peter Cardinal Okpaleke.
Nnabuife said His Eminence, Peter Cardinal
Okpaleke, will be the chief host of the
matriculation event which is expected to have Catholic bishops of Awka and Nnewi
in attendance.
Also expected at the event are governors, prominent academic scholars, frontline government personalities, political leaders and captains of industry in the South East.
The institution has undergone full
resource verification and had its courses
approved by the National University
Commission (NUC) and all requisite
agencies run as a robust academic citadel with quintessential Catholic values of sound scholarship and deep moral ethos.
Nnabuife disclosed that with four faculties, 12 departments and 24 programmes spanning through the humanities; social and management sciences; science and computing technologies; health and Allied Sciences, the university is set produce brilliant and focused graduates.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Rev.
Fr. (Prof) Chukwuemenam Emmanuel
Umezinwa, explained that the goal of the
school is to give birth to a new generation of Nigerian youths who are distinguished by
their high knowledge, exceptional sense of
social responsibility and zeal for productivity. (NAN)
