On Monday, pandemonium erupted at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, when a police officer allegedly shot one student and injured two others.
According to reports, the sad situation occurred when the police officer, who has yet to be identified, was asked to resolve a quarrel between two persons at the school.
While attempting to calm the matter, the police allegedly fired intermittently into the air, killing one student and injuring two others.
The tragedy sparked a riot at the school, with students locking the gates in protest and demanding justice for the dead.
When contacted, SP Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, said that he was busy but promised to revert.
