FG begins upgrade of 50 secondary schools

The Federal Government has begun the upgrade of 50 senior secondary schools around the country.

Dr. Iyela Ajayi, Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission, NSSCE, made the announcement during a recent courtesy visit to Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, by Commissioner of Education Dr. John Mamman.

According to Fatima Ahmed Bappare, Head of Public Relations and Protocol at NSSCE, Dr. Ajayi said that Government College in Nasarawa was one of the schools chosen for the improvement.

According to him, President Bola Tinubu prioritised the development of the education sector, as indicated by the budget allocation to it in the 2024 Appropriation Act.

He went on to say: “The upgrade of the 50 selected senior secondary schools across the nation, which was captured in the 2024 budget, is a clear testimony of this administration’s commitment to the development of senior secondary education in the country.”

Dr. Ajayi urged cooperation between the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and the consultant who will be on site to ensure a smooth transformation during the upgrading.

Mal. Mohammed Sani Bala, Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, who represented the Commissioner of Education, responded by expressing gratitude for selecting the state as one of the pullout states and promising to provide all necessary support to ensure the upgrade’s success.
