The Kaduna State University has declared that students experiencing financial challenges will be allowed to sit exams for the 2023/2024 academic year.
The university’s management stated in a statement on Thursday that the move was made at the request of Governor Uba Sani to lessen the impact of present economic issues on its student body.
The statement read in part, “The management wishes to notify both new and returning students for the 2023/2024 academic session that they can now write the forthcoming examinations irrespective of whether or not they have paid their school fees.
“This is in line with the visionary policy of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, geared towards mitigating the current economic challenges faced by students.”
The statement added that the university Bursar’s office is open for further information and inquiries regarding the temporary clearance policy.
“However, for those students wishing to pay their school fees, the payment channels remain unchanged,” it added.
Recall that in 2023, the Kaduna State governor announced the downward review of fees payable in state-owned tertiary institutions.
Sani noted that the downward review was in tandem with the general rise in the cost of living, following the subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 22023.
