LAFIA (Sundiata Post) – Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has urged students to shun cultism and other social vices in order to excel in life.
The speaker made the call while hosting National Officials of Nasarawa State Students Association (NASSA) on Friday in Lafia.
Jatau said that cultism and other social vices had affected the education and lives of many students negatively.
“Students must shun all forms of vices that is inimical to their lives and societal development,” he said
He encouraged the students to embrace science for the overall development of the country.
“I want to advise our students to embrace science courses. We are lacking doctors, engineers among others,” he said.
Jatau appreciated NASSA officials for the visit and assured them of his support to succeed.
“I want to appreciate you for identifying with me on the leadership position that God has given to me. I want to assure you of my support to enable you succeed,” he said.
The speaker commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s efforts in the education sector.
“I want to commend the effort of Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in developing the education and other sectors in the State.
“His Excellency has passion for education and he is doing his best to see that education sector is move to the next level of development in the state,” he said said.
“You must develop high moral values to excel in life,” he said
Responding, Mr Hussaini Abubakar, the National President of NASSA said the visit was to identify with Jatau on his emergence as Speaker of the state legislature.
He also assured the speaker of their loyalty and support to for his to succeed.
The NASSA however solicited the support of the speaker to the association. (NAN)
