Maryam, a Nigerian teenager, receives a full scholarship of $60,400 at Princeton




Miss Maryam Popoola, a Nigerian teenager, has been awarded a full fellowship of $60,400 at Princeton University in the United States.

The Dowen College alumnus was also offered scholarship admission to Harvard University in the United States of America, Yale University, Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, and University College London (UCL), UK.

Maryam achieved these scholarships by completing her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at Cambridge University in 2021, where she produced and received the £500 prize for the best undergraduate dissertation in Architecture at the University of Cambridge in 2021.

Her award-winning thesis was titled “Sacred Sites, Rituals, and Film: An Investigation into the Interwoven Evolution of Yoruba Mythology across Spatial, Temporal, and Human Dimensions.”

In 2021/22, she completed a one-year postgraduate internship in the United Kingdom.

Maryam is currently in her second year in a three-year Master’s in Architecture programme at Princeton University in the United States, supported by a full fellowship.

Her full fellowship of $60,400 per session for three years includes tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend.
