Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has appointed Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso.
The governor approved the appointment on Tuesday.
The approval was announced in a statement signed by Professor Salihu Adelabu, Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology.
The statement announced that Kalilu will serve as Vice Chancellor for a single five-year term beginning June 12, 2024.
Kalilu joined LAUTECH on September 1, 1992, and was appointed Professor of Arts and Arts History at the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, on October 1, 1999.
He was appointed as Acting Vice-Chancellor on June 12, 2023. Kalilu, an alumnus of the University of Ife and the University of Ibadan, is a polymath and specialist in Form and Material Technology. He hails from Ogbomoso.
