Sanwo-Olu launches paediatric sickle cell centre in LASUTH

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned the Paediatric Sickle Cell Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Friday to address the health requirements of sickle cell patients.

During the centre’s commissioning and handover ceremony in Lagos, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that the structure, sponsored by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), would revolutionise the state’s healthcare landscape.

Governor Sanwo-Olu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his innovative leadership in the health sector and for approving such a large-scale initiative in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.

He also said the centre would increase infrastructure dedicated to children in the state and nurture an environment where they can receive care.

Sanwo-Olu noted that the center would also add to the number of health care facilities and improve infant and maternal mortality in the state.

While calling for collaboration among the three-tiers of government, Sanwo-Olu said that the synergy would produce great results, as it would help the people to achieve more, even as he commended the synergy among LASUTH officials.

He urged management of LASUTH to use the sickle cell center judiciously to save lives of children and for the benefit of mankind.
