Tinubu names Bisi Akande chair of University of Ibadan governing council




President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Chief Bisi Akande, former governor of Osun State and the first chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to lead the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan (UI) in Oyo State.

Chief Bisi Akande, a distinguished political figure and elder statesman, brings extensive expertise to this position.

His leadership as governor of Osun State, as well as his founding role in the APC, are expected to have a substantial impact on the strategic direction and governance of Nigeria’s finest institution.

Chief John Odigie Oyegun, a former national chairman of the APC, previously served as chairman of the council.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed Oyegun on Thursday, 8 April 2021.

Chief Oyegun served alongside Dr Mazud Kazaure from the North-West, Comrade Abba Yaro from the North Central, Alh. Abubakar Maikafi from the North East, and Hon. Emeka Nwagbo from the South East.
