FG Urged to Pay More Attention to Public Schools

The Federal Government has been asked to focus more on public schools in order to improve Nigerian children’s educational outcomes.

Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony to commemorate CMS Grammar School’s 165th anniversary, Mr Sheu Ibrahim Olanrewaju, whose son received the best three award prizes, urged the federal and state governments to prioritise equipping public schools like private schools to ensure all-round education for children.

Mr Ibrahim encouraged the government to do more by working with public school administrators to address their needs so that their students can thrive in their academics, just like in private schools.

He stated that, despite the mass failure in the previous Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, private school students scored 30.1 and excelled more than public school students.

He advised parents to monitor their children closely by advising and counselling them spiritually and equipping them financially.

Master Tijani Olasheni Shehu, the triple awardee with ambitions to become a Cyberspace Security specialist, attributed his success to hard work, perseverance, prayers, and parental encouragement.
