The management of Federal University Dutsin-ma, FUDMA, Katsina State, has praised the president of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Gwarzo, for gifting two ambulances and a 60-seater deluxe bus to the university.
Prof. Ar’mayau Bichi, the university’s vice-chancellor, made the commendation while leading the university’s management personnel on a “thank you visit” to Mr. Gwarzo in Kano recently.
Mr Bichi, who expressed gratitude to Mr Gwarzo for his invaluable support and help to FUDMA, stated that the visit was intended to thank him for the gesture, which he said was vital to improving teaching and learning in the school.
While acknowledging the various contributions made by the entrepreneur-cum-philanthropist towards the development of the university, Mr Bichi called for collaboration between the two institutions.
He expressed optimism that the gesture will strengthen the already warm relationship between the two universities.
During the visit, Mr Bichi handed a letter of appreciation to Mr Gwarzo on behalf of the Senate, management staff, and FUDMA students.
Mr Gwarzo emphasised the importance of individuals making a long-term influence and ensuring that their accomplishments are recognised even after they are no longer alive.
He restated his commitment to boosting education in Northern Nigeria by increasing the number of graduates and raising the quality of education.
He stressed the need of colleges focusing on branding, reputation, and developing a strong academic image in order to attract attention and opportunities from around the world.
The founder of four universities also discussed ways to improve university rankings and secure grants for research projects.
He also emphasised the importance of exposure, engagement with foreign institutions, and how rankings affect a university’s reputation.
While calling for a healthy atmosphere for intellectuals to thrive and contribute to university growth, Mr Gwarzo emphasised the significance of universities forging their own paths to success rather than relying entirely on funding from the government.
