Alex Emeka, a 20-year-old student at Adamawa State’s Capital Government Day Secondary School has admitted to raping a mentally ill woman three different times.
The student, who was brought before Adamawa Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu, pled guilty to the act.
He was remanded when the prosecuting police read the charge, which included the fact that he was caught having intercourse with the mentally ill woman on June 26, 2024.
The prosecution said in the First Information Report (FIR) filed in court that the defendant had sexual intercourse with the mentally retarded woman three times.
Inspector Galeon Nimrod, the prosecution officer, told the court that one Habu Jibrilla came to Karewa Police Station and reported the matter.
According to Nimrod, Jibrilla, a resident of Jimeta’s State Low-Cost Housing Estate, revealed that he spotted the defendant having sex with the mentally ill woman on the street at 6:40 a.m. and decided to take him into custody and turn him over to police.
