Rector assures Kogi Poly staff, students of improved welfare, conducive environment




LOKOJA (Sundiata Scholar) – The Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salisu Usman, has assured of improved welfare and conducive environment for members of staff and students of the institution.

Usman gave the assurance when members of Correspondents’ chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi council, paid a courtesy visit to his office on Wednesday in Lokoja.

The journalists were in the rector’s office to congratulate him on his reappointment as well as his recent elevation to the rank of full professor and to also condole with him on the demise of his brother.

Usman promised to give priority to welfare, initiate incentives, and provide conducive environment for staff and students in order to fulfill the vision of the pioneers of the institution

He added that the institution would also device strategies to improve its internally generated revenue (IGR), pursue massive investment in agriculture, and provide a water treatment plant and solar powered electricity on campus.

The rector said that during his second term efforts would be made to boost the institution’s brand in the global competitive educational sector.

He said that the institution would continue to produce well-rounded graduates prepared to adapt to changing environments, navigate complex challenges, be self-reliant, and make a positive impact in the society.

Usman said that the institution had made tremendous achievements under his watch since assumption of office as acting Rector in April, 2020 and his subsequent confirmation on Feb. 12, 2021.

He hilightled his administration’s achievements to include: tackling insecurity, get full accreditation status, improved academic matters and introduction of new programmes.

Others are: establishment of new directorates, infrastructural and environmental development, recruitment of new staff, implementation of 2015 to 2020 promotion, research breakthroughs, among others.

The rector expressed his utmost gratitude to Gov. Ahmed Ododo for reappointing him and promised that the institution would continue to witness progress and development under his administration.

He also assured journalists in the state of continued collaboration and partnership in promoting the image of the institution, and urged them to sustain the support.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel, NUJ, Mr Segun Salami, congratulated the rector on his reappointment and elevation to full professorship, while sympathising with him on the demise of his brother.

He commended the rector for the unprecedented development in the institution and for restoring its lost glory.

Salami assured the rector of the continuous support of the media in projecting the institution’s programmes and achievements to the world. (NAN)
