President Bola Tinubu has directed the Ministers of Finance, Wale Edun, and Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, to look into ways to pay the four months’ salaries withheld from university non-teaching staff, which include the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU).
Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), confirmed this to media following a meeting of the organised labour’s leadership with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
He stated that the labour unions reported the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, to the President, for forcibly stopping the peaceful protest to register their grievances about their withheld salaries.
