MLSCN inducts 55 new Medlab graduates of Babcock University

On Monday, the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) solemnly inducted 55 graduates of Medical Laboratory Science from Babcock University in Ilisan, Ogun State.

Temidayo Ajayi was named the session’s overall Best Student at the 12th induction and oath-taking event, which took place in the University’s 600-seat auditorium.

The induction ceremony was a significant moment in the careers of the young medical laboratory scientists.

In his keynote address titled “Empowering Personal, Public, and Global Health through Diagnostic Medicine,” Prof. Festus Olajubu of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State emphasised the critical role of medical laboratory scientists in healthcare delivery and the importance of diagnostic medicine in shaping public and global health outcomes.

The Don reminded the inductees of the need to uphold the ethics of the profession as well as set achievable goals.

“Get exposure through conference attendance and training workshops and set achievable goals for yourself,” said Prof. Olajubu.

He added, “Be respectful and yet dignify your profession.”

The Registrar/CEO of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Tosan Erhabor also lent his voice in encouraging the new inductees to always respect the confidentiality of their patients.

“Whatever you do, you must maintain this and respect this ethics,” he said.

In his address to the new graduates, President/Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ademola Tayo advised the inductees to remember that their oath was not just a promise to uphold the standards of their profession, but also a commitment to constantly strive for excellence and integrity.

“As you take your oath, remember that this is not just a promise to uphold the standards of your profession but also a commitment to continually strive for excellence, integrity and compassion in all your actions,” he said.

Prof. Dora Akinboye, Dean of the School of Public and Allied Health, and Dr. Esther Adejumo, Head of the Department, also wished them success in their future professions.

The ceremony was attended by the inductees’ parents, guardians, and well-wishers, as well as faculty members and staff of the university.
