School proprietress tasks educationists on creative skills learning

KADUNA (Sundiata Scholar) – Mrs Khadijat Oyeniyi , the proprietress, Creative Tots School, has called on educationists to include creative and skills learning in primary schools’ curriculum so as to harness pupils’ full potential.
Oyeniyi made the call during the school’s second graduation and prize giving ceremony on Sunday in Kaduna.

She explained that the school has a special way of teaching pupils where they employ the ‘Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)’, which accommodates children with special needs.

The proprietress lamented the current certificate-focused curriculum practice in Nigeria rather than skills building, which helps the children to navigate their professional paths early.

Oyeniyi commended the parents for their support to the school in spite of the economic situation of the country, urging the government to address inflation and improve the lives of the masses.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion,Malam Muhammad Bello, urged the parents not to relent in providing quality education for their wards so that they would grow up to be good citizens.
He urged Nigerians to pray for their leaders and turn to God for sustenance, peace, growth and development of the country.
Similarly, some parents commended the school for impacting knowledge of their children, saying that they were happy to see them making beautiful presentations during the ceremony.

Mrs Taslimat Shittu said it was not easy to pay school fees for her children with the economic realities in the country, saying, ”parents and the school must join hands to ensure that the children get the best education.”
