Greensprings students emerge as overall best in Cambridge exams

Two Greensprings alumni, Oluwatobi Somorin and David Ekenta-Ifeanyi, were recently awarded at the British Council’s yearly Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, which recognise top-performing students and innovative schools.

In the 2023 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination, Ekenta-Ifeanyi won Top in Country in Physical Education and Somorin got Top in Country in Mathematics (without coursework).

However, the night’s main event was the announcement of Somorin as Nigeria’s overall best across eight IGCSE subjects for the year 2023.

This year’s win made it the seventh consecutive year that Greensprings students would receive Top in Country awards in various subjects, such as Mathematics, English, Physics, Biology, Global Perspectives, Literature, French, and Drama, among others.

Mrs Feyisara Ojugo, the school’s Deputy Director of Education, congratulated the students on their accomplishments, which underlined the school’s commitment to academic excellence and staff dedication.

“We want to say big congratulations to our extraordinary students and well done to their teachers for their role in this feat, and to sincerely thank parents and everyone who contributed to their success,” Ojugo added.

The Cambridge IGCSE is an international examination taken by students aged 14 to 16. The examination is offered in the final secondary school year at several international schools in Nigeria, with the British Council and Cambridge Assessment International Education serving as administrators.
