Rain and windstorm demolish 58 nomadic schools in Jigawa

Heavy rain and wind storms destroyed 58 nomadic schools in Jigawa State.

Hajia Ramatu Muhammed, Executive Secretary of Nomadic Education, said this during a conversation with journalists in Dutse.

She stated that the tragedy occurred as a result of heavy rainfall and windstorm, which caused chaos in the majority of the impacted areas.

She explained that torrential rainfall and windstorms wrecked the majority of the schools, disrupting teaching and learning in the affected areas.

Alh. Garba Hamza, the agency’s director of works, stated that the Jigawa State government will spend N392.8 million to restore nomadic schools to full function.

He then urged the state government to increase the agency’s annual budgetary allocation to take proactive measures to provide prompt attention when such a disaster occurs.
