TETFund offers 143.4 million research grants to 75 Ojukwu University staff

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) has awarded grants to 75 staff members at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State for 2024 Institutional Based Research (IBR).

The Tetfund IBR-Selection Committee of COOU, led by Prof. Jonathan Ifemeje, Director of the Research Management Office, and Prof. Emeka Obi, Director of Academic Planning, announced this during the management meeting on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Tetfund IBR-Selection Committee thanked the University Management led by Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, for the shared leadership approach in the University, emphasising that this year’s IBR awards are the first time in the history of the University that such a large number of individuals will be receiving IBR in one breath.

They stated that a second round of application is currently being conducted to limit the number of applicants to 100.

In brief remarks, Prof. Ifemeje encouraged the recipients to ensure that all ethical issues in research are properly addressed, emphasising that the review committee will diligently follow up and will never accept any research report that is not completed satisfactorily.

He stated that the Committee will soon release high-impact factor journals with good indexing in which scholars can publish their research works.

While appreciating the Ag. Vice Chancellor and the University Management, the beneficiaries showed their emotional delight by praying to God for the energy to maintain the University’s ongoing joint leadership.

They also guaranteed that they would do everything required by Tetfund, including sending in their reports on time and ensuring that they are published in reputable journals.
