Bauchi University introduces new programmes




Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), which is owned by Bauchi State, has launched several new programmes targeted at improving students’ academic and career opportunities.

Wasilu Suleiman, Director of Human Resources and Career Development at the University, revealed that the new program was introduced following approval by the University’s Senate during its 49th regular meeting on July 25, 2024.

He also stated that the new programs are intended to offer students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their chosen careers.

The new programs include top-up degrees, HND to BSc conversion programs, diploma courses, and professional certifications in a variety of fields.

He stressed that, “It is believed that these programs will enhance the university’s academic offerings and provide students with a competitive edge in the job market.”

The Director said that the University has introduced BSc Accounting, BSc Business Administration, and BSc Public Administration into the Faculty of Management.

These programmes, which must be completed in two academic sessions, are intended to provide students with the skills and information needed to flourish in the management field.

The University has added BSc in Economics, BSc in Political Science, and BSc in Sociology to its Faculty of Social Sciences program. These programs, which must be completed in two academic sessions, will offer students a thorough understanding of the social sciences and prepare them for jobs in research, policymaking, and other fields.

However, the University has developed diploma courses in accounting and finance, marketing, and science laboratory technology, which must be completed within four semesters. These courses are designed to provide students with practical skills and knowledge in their chosen field.

Furthermore, the SAZU has established several professional certificates, including a basic certificate course in epidemiology and biostatistics, a basic certificate course in public health monitoring and outbreak, a basic certificate course in vector management, and a certificate in bioinformatics foundation.

In addition, the institution introduced the Professional Certificate in Demography Population Studies (PCDPS), Professional Certificate in Rural Economy and Sociology (PCRES), certificate in Biostatistics and Data Management, certificate in Health Nutrition, and certificate program in Molecular Biology.

The launch of these new programs is expected to improve students’ academic and career opportunities. The programs are intended to be industry-relevant, equipping students with practical skills and knowledge in the field of their choice.
