12 First Class Graduates of Edo University Rewarded with Automatic Employment from Governor Obaseki

The governor of Edo, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has extended an automatic job offer to the twelve new first-class Edo State University of Uzairue graduates.

According to Obaseki, who made this announcement at the university’s 5th Convocation, among the 12 graduates is Emos Ishaku, an internally displaced person (IDP) who lives in Edo’s Ihogua Camp.

“As you know those of you who graduate with first class degrees you have automatic offer in the Edo state civil service job.

“In next year’s budget, we are going to include the money that would enable us to finish the infrastructural work in medical sciences and the completion of the teaching hospital.

“I have also instructed that our current deployment of high-speed fibre optic be extended to the school in order to support the efforts the Institution has made to facilitate learning,” he said.

Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, stated that in just seven years of operation, the university has broken several milestones that the more established universities in Nigeria should aim to match.

“It is on record today that Edo State University Uzairue is the first in Africa to have acquired some of the Hi-Tech equipment for the training of her medical students.

“The university is the first in the Sub-Saharan African region to acquire CANVAS Learning digital teaching and learning environment for our teachers and students.

“The institution was ranked 10th best university in Nigeria, 2nd best state university and the best university in the South-South region of Nigeria in 2022 by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

“Today we are 356 graduates of Edo State University Uzairue out of which 12 are first class, 164 are Second Class Upper division, 234 are Second class lower division and 14 are third class.

“We have 65 unclassified degrees. Nine candidates completed Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) programmes while four successfully completed Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) programs.

’48 are graduating with Master of Science (MSc.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees, while 38 will receive Postgraduate Diplomas.”
