UTME: JAMB approves 747 CBT centres for registration, examination

For the 2024 UTME exercise, which is set to start on Monday, 747 Computer Based Test (CBT) Centres have been certified by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The board announced this in a bulletin published in Abuja by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Public Communication Advisor (PAC).

Only 747 of the 907 CBT centres that the board had shortlisted for accreditation were able to receive certification for the 2024 UTME exercise after revalidation and integrity tests were completed.

Candidates were seen in large numbers at the several centres visited according to a NAN correspondent who observed registration at a few different CBT centres in the Federal Capital Territory and its surroundings.

While some of the candidates who gave their own accounts claimed that the registration process went smoothly, others disagreed.

Chinaza Onuegbu, a candidate at the Future Gate CBT centre in One-Man village, voiced concern about his difficulty to register and claimed he was told, for no apparent reason, to register at another centre.

But Onuegbu claimed that after having another thought, he went back to ask why he wouldn’t be able to register and was advised to return the following day with his JAMB profile code, which he still hadn’t received.

“I was at the Future Gate to register for my Direct Entry but was not allowed to register. I was told to go to another CBT centre if I can be allowed.

“I moved to another centre within that vicinity but was told to go back to the Future Gate to resolve any problem I am having.

“Immediately I got back to Future Gate centre, I met someone who told me to bring my profile code but I could not produce it because I really don’t understand what it means.

“I was however asked to go home and get my profile code and then bring it tomorrow so that I can be registered.”

At the Global Learning Institute, opposite the Federal Ministry of Finance, a candidate, Pelumi Rotimi, said the registration was seamless and that she was able to register within few minutes.

Rotimi expressed her desire to work hard in her studies in order to get into the university of her choosing with a decent mark.

Candidates are nonetheless required to possess the following documents for the 2024 UTME registration- National Identification Number (NIN) and Personal information.

Others are their O’level scores, choice of institution and subject, biometric verification and Jamb registration cost.
