Caleb University set to celebrate its 13th convocation

On Saturday, February 3, 2024, Caleb University Imota, Lagos will celebrate its 13th convocation, at which worthy graduates will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees.

AIn addition, at the Imota main campus convocation arena, the institution will bestow honorary degrees on two notable Nigerians: Rev. Fr. Dr. Hycinth Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, and Dr. Olukayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police. Diplomas and postgraduate degrees will also be awarded to pioneer doctorate students.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, declared, “This convocation is marking a turning point in the consolidation of the University’s culture of academic excellence, with the maiden graduation of Doctorate holders, and another evidence of critical demonstration of stakeholder confidence in and identification with the Caleb brand.”

The convocation lecture with the theme: “Closing the Generational Gap between the Old and the Young in Nigerian Politics”, will be delivered by Mr Gbenga Omotoso, a veteran journalist, Editor, and columnist, with over 35 years in the media.

In addition to serving as the Lagos State Information and Strategy Commissioner, Mr Omotoso has held positions as a subeditor for The Guardian, deputy editor of Guardian Express, editor of the Saturday Guardian, pioneer editor of Comet, pioneer editor of the Nation, and editor of the Saturday Guardian.

Dignitaries expected at the regal 13th convocation dubbed “Pacesetters” include Her Eminence, Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi of Love of Christ International Church; Mr. Adaralegbe Akintayo of Tpumpy Estate Development; and His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II. The awarding of honorary degrees on Saturday, February 3, 2024, and the hooding of the pioneer doctorate graduates on February Friday, February 2, are additional events scheduled for the convocation.
