2 AAU in students killed during cult clash in Edo

Two AAU, Ekpoma students were reportedly shot dead after a clash between rival cult groups in the state. The clash resulted in the death of a student union government official at the college.

It was discovered that the killings occurred last Friday. The Students’ Union Government official was believed to be a 400-Level student at the Faculty of Agriculture.

He was said to have been slain on the poultry road extension in Ekpoma.

It was also discovered that the killings in the campus community occurred less than 48 hours after one Eddy was reportedly attacked and left for dead by a group of people for allegedly buying items with a “fake bank alert.”

The news of Eddy’s beating was said to have been misconstrued as an attack by rival cult members to the effect that he was killed.

The misrepresentation of facts, however, reportedly led to a retaliation by a rival cult group, resulting in fatality of the two students on Friday.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command , SP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the killings. According to him, the command is aware of it and investigation is ongoing in the matter and some suspects have been arrested.
